PRODUCTION RUN: CARS #1-30
DH #01

STORY
This Berger Supercar Camaro, DH #01, was documented onsite by Matt during the 23rd Annual Berger Chevrolet All GM Show in August 2022. It was displayed alongside DH Supercar #30, forming the “Bookend Pair” of the production run.
The vehicle was built for Larry Leatherman, who had previously campaigned a 1969 Camaro ZL1 in race competition and was among the notable automotive personalities to sign the engine bays of the DH Supercars, including his own.
The car is finished in 2005 Cadillac Red Line paint with an Ebony/Gray interior. It is a Phase 3X build producing 630 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. Unique to this car, it is the only DH Supercar equipped with a polished air intake and powder-coated valve covers. Current mileage is 342 miles.
DH #01 was part of the GMMG Legends display at the 2022 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals and later appeared at the 2025 Berger Chevrolet All GM Car Show, the dealership’s final event. It has also been featured and on display in Hawks Motorsports' front showroom.

DH #02

STORY
The history of Berger Supercar Camaro #2 is a personal one, tied closely to its original owner’s long-standing connection with the program. In 2002, Dennis Barker first shared a rendering of the Dick Harrell Edition Camaro.
Captivated by the concept, the owner immediately asked if he could have car #1, only to learn it was already spoken for. Offered car #2 instead, he accepted, beginning what would become a decades-long journey with the car.
The wait for production was long, stretching into 2004. During that time, the owner was approached by a customer who expressed interest in purchasing the car.
With a handshake agreement that he would one day have the opportunity to buy it back, the car was ordered through Dick Jocks Chevrolet and delivered in January 2005 with 488 miles on the odometer—miles accumulated while Matt Murphy and the GMMG team continued developing and refining the program.
Though the car officially changed hands, the original owner remained closely involved. When the Spec 3 clutch failed, he personally replaced it at his shop, driving the car for several hundred miles before returning it to the customer. The car saw light use afterward, accumulating only about 1,000 more miles before being placed into long-term storage.
Nearly two decades later, the promise made in 2004 was honored. After a call to his longtime customer, the car returned to its first owner, still in pristine condition with just 3,800 miles on the odometer. After refreshing fluids, tuning, and adjusting the suspension, the car is now back on the road, enjoyed by the same enthusiast who first fell in love with the rendering more than 20 years ago.
The car is finished in LeMans Blue Metallic paint and has Neutral tan upholstery, making it unique among the Phase 3X cars.

STORY
Berger Supercar Camaro #11, originally built in April 2006, also returned to public view after more than two decades in storage. The car started as a Rally Red Phase 1 automatic producing 400 horsepower, with T-tops and an original MSRP of $25,620. After a GMMG upgrade, the car’s cost increased to $86,086.
The car was later purchased by the same North Carolina collector who owned 24 and sent back to GMMG for a hardtop conversion. When GMMG closed, the build was left unfinished, missing seats, wheels, gauges, and other key components. It remained in storage for several years, including time in a body shop in rural North Carolina.
In April 2025, ownership of 11 transferred to Hawks Motorsports, where it is currently undergoing restoration. The rebuild will include Nantucket Blue paint, a 1967-style deluxe red leather interior, a 750-horsepower 427ci LS7 engine, a Magnum-F 6-speed transmission, custom Fikse Profil 15 wheels with Superman-logo center caps, a red powder-coated chromoly cage, and Baer brakes.

DH# 24

STORY:
Berger Supercar Camaro #24, finished in Penske Blue, made its public debut at the final Berger Chevrolet All-GM Car Show during the dealership’s 100th-anniversary celebration.
The car began life as a Sebring Silver Metallic B4C special service package Camaro, originally priced at $27,390. After being transferred from Henderson Chevrolet in Las Vegas to Berger Chevrolet, it was sent to GMMG for a full Dick Harrell Supercar conversion. When GMMG closed, the car was returned to its original owner as an unfinished shell and remained stored for years.
In 2024, a new owner acquired the car and sent it to Hawks Motorsports for completion. The build included a Phase 4XR package with a 427ci LS7 producing 750 horsepower and 700 lb-ft of torque, paired with a Magnum-F 6-speed transmission and Strange 12-bolt rear end with 4.10 gears. It rides on Fikse Profil 13 wheels and features 6-piston Baer brakes, Viking coilovers, and the original yellow Dick Harrell graphics.
I had the opportunity to follow the car closely during this period, documenting it in its incomplete form before the recent transformation (below) and then the current form (above), as well as sign the engine bay during the 2025 unveil.
The build was completed just in time for the centennial event, with a total cost of $177,504.99.

Other performance upgrades included drilled brake rotors, side-exiting exhaust and FIKSE wheels. Many of these components made their way to the GMMG run of Berger Supercars: Dick Harrell Edition Camaros.

DH# PR3

STORY
Referred to as a prototype, this Berger Supercar Camaro PR3 was likely built after the 30-car production run and requested for the connection to Dale Earnhardt's #3 livery.
Originally built for racecar driver Dale Earnhardt Jr., it is finished in orange with an Ebony interior and features a large central black stripe across the hood, roof, and deck lid. Unlike the rest of the run, it does not have the side spear graphics or hood cowl stripes, making it visually distinct. He did sign the dashboard.
The car was initially equipped with an LS6 engine, but Hendrick Motorsports, under Earnhardt Jr.’s direction, swapped in an LS7 427ci V-8. The four technicians who performed the engine work signed the firewall.
The car has 4,025 miles and was owned by Earnhardt Jr. until 2024. It has been featured in several magazine articles and was on display at the 2025 Berger Chevrolet All GM Car Show.

DH# PRCV

STORY:
This Camaro is the only convertible related to the DHE program to receive a wide-body treatment. Although sometimes referred to as a 'Prototype', there were never any plans for a convertible in the numbered run.
A factory 2002 35th Anniversary Edition, it is also the only Camaro related to the DHE program to feature a 5XR 454ci LSX V8 upgrade, producing 750 horsepower and 675 lb-ft of torque paired with an automatic transmission. Finished in Rally Red with Ebony/Gray interior inserts, the car was originally commissioned with 20-inch MHT Forged M10 wheels and redline Michelin Pilot Sport tires.
When it left GMMG, the car did not have DH graphics and still lacks the build team signatures under the hood. For its appearance at Berger Chevrolet’s 24th Annual All GM Show, the owner updated it with package-correct FIKSE wheels, airbox BSDHE graphics, and profile and hood cowl carbon-simulated graphics.
Matt has documented the vehicle in both its original (below) and updated forms (above), including a site visit in late 2023. The car has a current mileage of 225 miles and was also displayed at the 2025 Berger Chevrolet All GM Car Show.
While not part of the numbered production run, this vehicle is considered a “Related Vehicle” or Non-Program Car (NPC), connected to the same era and development of the 30-car run and 2 initial prototypes.

The 2002 Berger Supercar Dick Harrell Edition Camaro is a rare, limited-edition offering from Berger Chevrolet of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Crafted by GMMG Inc., a performance shop in Marietta, Georgia, this exclusive package boasts a radical wide-body design paired with significant engine upgrades. The concept was not original, taking inspiration from the GM show car of the era, commonly known as the 'Sunoco Camaro,' which featured a similar blue and gold color scheme to the iconic 1960s race car driven by Mark Donohue.
This special Berger edition pays tribute to Dick Harrell, a legendary drag racer known as “Mr. Chevrolet,” who made his mark in the 1960s using Chevrolet vehicles.
Only 30 numbered cars were produced as part of this exclusive series. Today, it's regarded by many enthusiasts and experts—including author Matt Avery—as the “pinnacle of 4th-generation Camaro showroom-sourced performance.”
How many 2002 Berger Supercar Dick Harrell Edition Camaros were made?
A total of 35 wide-body Camaros were created by GMMG and are considered to be part of and related to the 2002 Berger Supercar Dick Harrell Edition production run.
After two prototypes (labeled PR1 & PR2), a production run of 30 cars (numbered #1-30) was created. These 32 vehicles are identified by the collection of automotive personality signatures located around the engine bay, including GMMG owner, Matt Murphy.
An additional prototype (identified as PR3 and built for Dale Earnhardt Jr.) and two related or 'non-program vehicles' (NPVs - a 'clay car' and convertible) were also built by the GMMG team for an employee and customer.
Related to the run is the initial GM Woodward Dream Cruise wide-body show car that served as the inspiration. Its whereabouts today are unknown.
What is the rarest 2002 Berger Supercar Dick Harrell Edition Camaro?
With a limited production run of 35 cars, these vehicles are highly sought after. Factors that discerning collectors favor include the top-tier 454ci V8 engine option, low mileage condition, and unique custom paint colors.
What is a 2002 Berger Supercar Dick Harrell Edition Camaro worth?
Because of their rarity, any of the 35 cars are considered desirable. Within the run are several vehicles that obtain the highly sought-after unique '1 of 1' status.
Some automotive collectors prefer cars equipped with the largest engines and thus seek out the examples fitted with the 454ci V8. Low mileage is another highly-sought after quality.
Is a 2002 Berger Supercar Dick Harrell Edition Camaro collectible?
Yes, the 2002 Berger Supercar Dick Harrell Edition Camaro is considered highly collectible and sought after by automotive enthusiasts and collectors alike.
Its appeal lies not only in its limited production numbers and performance upgrades but also in its strong association with Berger Chevrolet and GMMG. These factors contribute to its significance in automotive history, making it a prized addition to any collection.
Was a convertible 2002 Berger Supercar Dick Harrell Edition Camaro made?
Yes, a single wide-body 2002 Camaro was created as a related vehicle, often referred to as a “non-program” car of the run. This unique model started as a 35th Anniversary Edition and was designated as “PRCV”, which stands for Prototype Convertible.
It was equipped with a powerful Phase 5XR 454ci LSX V8 engine, rated at an impressive 750 horsepower. See more
What is the GMMG Legends Display?
The GMMG Legends Display is a special exhibition highlighting the rare 2002 Berger Supercar Dick Harrell Edition Camaros. It was first organized at the 2022 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals in Rosemont, Illinois, where automotive personality Matt Avery hosted the largest public showing of these cars since their release, with nine examples on display.
In 2025, Avery again hosted the display during Berger Chevrolet’s 100th anniversary and final All-GM Show, expanding the reunion to include 17 cars—the most ever assembled in one place
Who signed under the engine bay of the 2002 Berger Supercar Dick Harrell Edition Camaros?
Each Berger Supercar Dick Harrell Edition Camaro features signatures under the hood, marking a special signing event held on May 27, 2004, at the GMMG shop in Marietta, Georgia. This gathering brought together key figures from the BSDEC program, including Matt Berger, Valerie Harrell, and Chevrolet insiders, to celebrate the legacy of Dick Harrell and the launch of these limited-production Camaros.
Signatures were placed on both strut tower braces, using black or silver permanent marker depending on the engine bay color. Attendees wore embroidered GMMG polo shirts, and a commemorative group photo was taken with PR-2, the second BSDEC prototype.
