Here are the 2024 Indy 500 Festival Vehicles and for the First Time in 14 Straight Years There's No Camaro

Updated: Apr 6

For 2024, Chevrolet continues their tradition of providing a special fleet for parade use at the Indianapolis 500. The assembly has been revealed and looks different with the departure of the Camaro for the 2025 model year.

Since 2009 (and through 2023), the 50-car group traditionally included the iconic pony car. With it now gone (and no replacement in sight), for this year’s event it’ll be split between three current Chevrolet vehicles: the Corvette Stingray (x11), the Blazer RS (x4), and the Silverado 1500 RST 4WD Crew Cab (x35). According to the Speedway, it's the trucks that are 'presented as the 500 Festival Event cars'.

The Camaro made several notable appearances at the storied race, beginning in 1967 when it was selected as the official pace car. This honor occurred eight more times, with the model frequently used for the Festival group, including regularly composing the entirety of the 50-vehicle field.

Debut & Package Contents

This latest group was unveiled at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway today by IMS president Doug Boles, Pat Merna, 500 Festival vice president, strategic partnerships; Mike Boatright, 500 Festival board chair; and Mike Quinn, Chevrolet Indianapolis district sales manager.

All of the vehicles are painted red (Radiant Red on the SUVs and trucks and Red Mist for the Corvettes) and receive unique graphics on the doors and rear quarter panels. They are marked with numbered graphics at the base of the windshield corresponding to matching celebratory license plates.

The trucks are powered by a 6.2-liter V-8 boasting 420 horsepower and a 10-speed automatic transmission. The RST package adds elements like body-color bumpers, center grille bars and door handles, dual active exhaust with sport mode, a Jet Black leather interior, and 22-inch high-gloss Black-painted aluminum wheels. They were all built at the brand's Fort Wayne Assembly plant.

During the month of May, they’ll be used by various individuals including IMS track and Penske VIPs, law enforcement, and Festival Board members. This year’s official pace car has not been announced but likely will be a 2024 Corvette E-Ray following up on last year’s Corvette Z06 convertible selection.

The 108th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge is scheduled for Sunday, May 26, 2024.
